Deron Braun – Write-In Candidate for Florida Senate District 22

Write-In Candidate for Florida Senate District 22
There is no Democrat running against the GOP incumbent for this district.

About me:
I am a 45 yo single father in Mid Pinellas who has been a Florida resident since 1967.
This is my first time dipping my toes in the political soup. So please understand that this page is a work in progress.

Some of my views:
I believe in a fair government that does not try to pass moral judgement on its people and allows for every citizen to have a chance.
It is time for the government to stay out of our bedrooms, women’s wombs, worship…

-If you are Christian, good for you. But don’t expect non-Christians to agree with your religious views and don’t force them on us either. Many Christians are trying to push their views on all of us. Whether Gay-marriage or abortion these people feel their views should be laws. It doesn’t work that way.

- If you are If you don’t like gay marriage; don’t marry someone of your gender. I have many friends who are part of the GLBT community. These people deserve the same rights that every other person has. You cannot make a law to take away rights from people and think it is constitutional. It isn’t. Mob rule is not the way this country should be run.

-I am anti-abortion. I am pro-choice. You may think these are opposing views, but they are not. They are complimentary in a way. A woman should have the right to decide what she does with her body. I do believe there should be regulations and certain time limits. Understand I am not a doctor.
—After the first trimester may be a good time to only allow abortions in the case of the mother’s health.
—If a woman is raped, how can anyone tell her she has to have the child? This includes incest. There is something sick about people forcing such views on people.

-National Health Care: Oh, I’ll admit this is not the best plan. Personally I feel we should have a “single payer” health care plan like Medicare for the whole nation. Specifically, our national health care should have been one page that simply stated…”The minimum age to receive Medicare is zero.” A healthy country is a strong country.
—Medicare should have the right to negotiate costs with the pharmaceutical companies.
—As long as people do not have access to free check-ups and doctor visits they will only go to see a doctor when it is an emergency. Many times this allows a simple problem to become life threatening. The cost of an emergency room visit is expensive. And if they don’t have insurance or can’t afford to pay the bill we all pay…

-Gun control:. You have the right to bear arms. But you should not have the right to just buy a gun without a back-ground check. And explain to me why you need an automatic weapon?

-Taxes: Back during the Eisenhower administration we had an upper tax rate of 90%. The rich were still getting richer and the middle class was strong. Now the rich pay almost nothing in taxes (Romney gloats that he paid 14% in taxes) and the middle class is stuck paying the rest. We have a deficit primarily due to the cutting of tax rates on the upper classes and corporations. I feel a 50% rate for any income over $10 million would be reasonable. 40% for over $1 million. 35% for over $200,000. 30% for over $50,000. 25% for over $30,000. If you are making less than that you need as much of your money as possible to survive.

-Jobs: Any company that sends manufacturing jobs over seas will be taxed on any products they import back into the U.S. Any company that imports into the U.S. would be taxed even higher. This would allow American corporations incentives to manufacture products here at home which would mean more Americans at work, more money in the economy, and a financially healthy America.

Now these are just the things to come to mind for me right now. I understand most of these issues are not state level issues. I will do my best to address these issues later on.

Thank you,
Deron C. Braun
